RedString Detective Board ("RedString", "we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our website and application (collectively, the "Service").

- Account Information: When you register for an account using Google Authentication, we receive information from Google such as your name, email address, and profile picture, as permitted by your Google account settings.
- Board Data: We collect and store the content you create on your RedString boards, including elements (text, links, images, etc.), connections, layers, and their associated metadata. This data is stored in Firebase Firestore.
- Usage Data: We may collect information automatically when you use the Service, such as your IP address, browser type, operating system, access times, and the pages you have viewed directly before and after accessing the Service. (This is a generic statement; detailed analytics are not currently implemented beyond standard Firebase functionality).
- Cookies and Similar Technologies: We may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to track the activity on our Service and hold certain information. Cookies are files with a small amount of data which may include an anonymous unique identifier.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect in various ways, including to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain our Service.
- Improve, personalize, and expand our Service.
- Understand and analyze how you use our Service.
- Develop new products, services, features, and functionality.
- Communicate with you, either directly or through one of our partners, including for customer service, to provide you with updates and other information relating to the Service, and for marketing and promotional purposes (with your consent, where required).
- Process your transactions (if applicable, e.g., for Pro features).
- AI Feature Data Usage: To provide AI-powered features like connection suggestions, your board data (elements and connections) is processed by AI models. Currently, this involves using Genkit which interfaces with Google AI models. This data is used solely for generating suggestions for your board and improving the AI models.
- Find and prevent fraud.
3. Information Sharing and Disclosure
We may share your information in the following situations:
- With Service Providers: We may share your personal information with third-party vendors, service providers, contractors, or agents who perform services for us or on our behalf and require access to such information to do that work. Examples include Firebase (for authentication and database) and Google AI (for AI features).
- For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or a government agency).
- Business Transfers: If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, your personal information may be transferred.
We do not sell your personal information.

We use administrative, technical, and physical security measures to help protect your personal information. While we have taken reasonable steps to secure the personal information you provide to us, please be aware that despite our efforts, no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and no method of data transmission can be guaranteed against any interception or other type of misuse.

We will retain your personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. We will retain and use your information to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our policies.
6. Children's Privacy
Our Service is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or a higher age threshold as required by applicable law). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under this age. If you become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
